      The thing is, NATO getting together to invade a recent partner of Russia would just prove Putin right in his claim of “NATO expansion” being a threat.

      And of course the one time it was needed: the USA who then abused it to invade Iraq when Saudis did ‘9/11’

      While Macron cannot help himself being somewhat wrong every time he speaks, he is 90% right here

      BUT

      as usual, this continues the long-standing european tradition of doing nothing or as little as possible while talking a lot.

      US has an option to disengage relatively quickly (while losing face and diminishing our standing in the eyes of our allies/partners but that’s not something out ordinary by now). China/India/Pakistan/Brazil/regional powers have an ‚in‘ and most likely will be able to negotiate Hormuz passage.

      EU/Europe, on the other hand? Not so much. „When hostilities calm, insurance and shipping firms are consulted and Iran consents“ could be a long time away and all that time european economy will suffer.
