It already HAS missed the mark and grossly underperformed to their own ridiculously low standard. The whole program is a spit in the face to law abiding Canadian gun owners and citizens in general who have to pay for it
>The high-powered rifle ban was put in place six years ago
Dis-information you say?
Thank goodness those scary high powered .22lrs will finally be off the streets and no longer accessible to all those hooligans.
Setting aside that it would never achieve the stated goal of reducing firearm violence, is not difficult to think of how it failed. From financial mismanagement, to bad management, to messaging failures.
The bans should just be dropped, and people should be allowed to retain their property.
>The high-powered rifle ban was put in place six years ago, after the 2020 mass shooting in Nova Scotia. Gabriel Wortman killed 22 people in a deadly rampage in the rural community of Portapique.
Why don’t they add that had this ban been in place BEFORE Wortman’s rampage, it wouldnt have made any difference as he was UNLICENSED and used ILLEGAL firearms.
Strange they don’t include that this buyback wouldn’t apply to the shooter here in NS, he wouldn’t be able to participate even he wanted to. He didn’t have a PAL and smuggled in the majority of his firearms.

The stated goal was more votes in Quebec and the Liberals got to milk this for three elections, so that’s a win ?
As a left leaning Canadian, I wish I understood where the push for this gun buyback came from. It certainly isn’t popular or relevant to any liberals I know.
I’m tired of our government pushing bold face lies for agendas. We don’t need this nor do a very large majority want it. So why keep pushing this along? For votes? Seems reckless. Anyone at anytime could forfeit their firearms so if you feel the need to go ahead on an individual basis. I’m done being walked on by my government yet I’m actually proud of my fellow firearm owners for standing tall!!! We need to keep this going so we can show other groups in our country we don’t need to backdown on everything.

That’s because the government isn’t interested in gun safety. Only gun banning.
Not even hours after the deadline the FRT was changed to make some SKS restricted now. No announcement, no warning. Fucking shady liberals as always.
This just made me want to get my gun licenses.
“Likely” is certainly putting it mildly
Amazing that a lot of the photos show items that would have been already prohibited pre-2020 bans. AK type rifles (prohibited since early 90s), bump fire stocks (never legal here), and unpinned magazine (prohibited item)
American photos to justify a Canadian ban. Terrible journalism.
6 years and a billion dollars spent to achieve nothing for public safety, truly a colossal waste of tax payer money. Imagine what good that money could have been used for.
No one actually expects this to be successful right? Not even the people who are in favor of it.
>“It means that the citizens who are law-abiding and who have enrolled in the program, regrettably will not be eligible for compensation,” Anandasangaree said
Why imply that people who chose not to participate in his shitty voluntary compensation aren’t law-abiding? Everyone is law-abiding until October. Participating in this program doesn’t make you *more law-abiding*.
Don’t forget, he agrees this program is terrible, unenforceable, only being implemented for Quebec votes ,and said he will pay bail for a citizen charged with anything related to it.
