Emphasis mine. Looks like people outside the USA will have to wait a bit more.

Do you still receive email to the old name?

From here it should be a small change to add a feature that allows people to generate random uuids that function as an alternate so you can use it as anonymous anti spam addresses, one for each purpose.

I can finally change my bigdaddy69420@ gmail address!!!!
Not sure why I wasn’t hearing anything back when applying for jobs.

My sister gave me this shitty username. Only reason I kept it is cause it’s 13 years old now..

Thank god. I was a very early adopter during the invite/beta period and therefore have a simple address of just my first initial and my surname.
I have since had to cope with several dozen moronic boomers from around the world who can’t grasp that this isn’t their email address and hand it out to everyone (inclusive of their banks, physicians, veterinarians etc).
I’m sick of having to triage emails from these fucking loons and deal with repeated password resets when they try to log into the online banking they’ve idiotically signed up to using my email.

> Once complete, your new Gmail address will become your primary login, while your old address will remain linked as an alternate email.
This is what I was wondering. You’ll still receive emails sent to your previous name.

So do you have to update to new email everywhere or will you continue to get email from anything sent to old email?

It doesn’t help when the email I want is still taken 20 years later.

is it possible to somehow change the country on my account to US to have this feature? i’m from europe, so it’s probably gonna take a while before it’s gonna be available over here…
BlackIce_ on
They need to make it like Microsoft outlook where you can have multiple email addresses on one account.

This feature it’s still not available in Europe? I don’t have it..

I followed the steps and it says:
# Google Account email
The address used to identify your Google Account to you and others. You can’t change this address.

Can the „new“ name be a Gmail account I already have? I already have 2 Gmail addresses. Can I start using the one I don’t currently use, and my main one will now be like an alias of the „new“ one?

Okay. Now let me delete more than 100 emails at a time. I hit my storage limit and it took me an hour and a half to delete 60000 emails out of promotions, social, and updates. It let me delete all 20000 out of spam in 2 clicks, why can’t I do that in the other folders?

I wish they’d offer Aliases like Microsoft do on Outlook, it’s very useful.

An actual feature addition for a product? In 2026? That isn’t „we’re now reading all your emails publicly“?

I already made a second Gmail years ago for this and had been moving things over to it over time. Only things connected to my old Gmail now is my phone contacts and Google play credits/cloud saves for phone games

If you successfully change your email to a new one, will this break several websites that only knew you from your old email?

This would only be useful to me if someone sends me an email using the old username and it doesn’t go through cause guess what? I changed my username.

I’m glad I took the time to make my kids all Gmail accounts when they were little. ‚
They all have their own names with no funny letters or numbers.
