„Tyler Robinson’s defense team said in recent court filings that an analysis from the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives, a federal law enforcement agency, could not conclusively connect a bullet fragment recovered during an autopsy to the rifle found near the scene. The FBI is running additional tests, according to court documents.“
This is from the Politico article because my phone wouldn’t open your link. But I guess they just have a fragment from the autopsy that couldn’t tie to the gun with 100% certainty.
How do they verify this? Is it just the type of bullet or is there a signature mark on the bullet/gun? Is it normal to only recover a fragment?
And do we have confidence in who/how the autopsy was performed?
The news stated “Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco, Firearms and Explosives (ATF) was unable to link the bullet recovered during autopsy to the rifle tied to Robinson”.
That didn’t mean that the bullet recovered didn’t come from Robinson’s rifle. It may be and it may not be, the ATF failed to provide a positive or negative result.
