So my understanding is that the point of this would be to reset the legislative agenda of Parliament and presumably both reset committee makeup and give time for the government to craft a revised agenda for when Parliament returns?

Oh man, I thought this might might happen and was really hoping it wouldn’t. This would such a big blow to the progress of so many different government bills. I understand a motion to amend the standing orders would be more annoying, because of the opposition’s filibuster tools, but given the serious drawbacks to prorogation i hope Carney seriously considers it with time allocation / closure.
