I used to click on video after video but now all the ads break that enjoyment and I end up doing something else.

It’s not working on me as much as it used to. I used to be watching YouTube for hours a day, now it can’t get my attention for more than 30 minutes

I think whatever they did made my homepage less relevant to me and now I don’t use YouTube even though I had working ad blockers

How are we as a society OK with this?

They still won’t let me disable YouTube shorts, which is intentionally addictive.

„we really want to make our users stay longer“ sounded way nicer that what it actually meant

Fortunately their ad business is great at not having any attention span to stick with watching YouTube.

Its funny, the reason they wanted people addicted was ad revenue.
The people who hate ads have left and most people have ad blockers.

Hey I need to replace a pipe. Does anybody have a *new pipe*? A *new pipe* would be ideal.

Well, after I finally get the SKIP button after literally 60 seconds, the video I want to watch starts with a one minute ad read, two minutes of actual content, and then a one minute unskippable ad.
Maybe if they want people addicted, they can fix that. Just a thought.

They optimize for the most engaging consumer product? I’m shocked I tell you shocked.
This is literally just good product development. Your users are using your product more. That is good. It means they like it.
We’re just hating on successful products now I guess because it’s some sort of nefarious manipulation.
Actually, you’re gonna tell me that the writers try to make the most engaging stories that they can and directors want to make the most engaging movies as they can you can’t turn away or TV show where you can’t stop binging because it’s so good.
You tell me all of this is a bad thing.
Safety is a nonsense concerns that Karen’s made up because they can’t fathom a world where we have good products and services that aren’t bogged down by stupid shit that nobody likes.

As soon as I spot an AI video or AI voice over I just close out of Youtube.
