Regardless of how you feel about Booker, I think he’s making a good point, **and we know WHY!**

      Snippet:

      * Sen. Cory Booker (D-N.J.) on Sunday criticized President Trump over paying Transportation Security Administration (TSA) workers amid the ongoing Department of Homeland Security (DHS) shutdown.
      * “I just want to continue to emphasize that we are seeing a colossal failure in presidential leadership. Because this president has said, again, ‘I have the power to pay TSA agents, and I’m going to do that,’” Booker told NBC News’s Kristen Welker.

      >“*Why didn’t he do this weeks ago when we started seeing the suffering of folks at the airports?* And remember, **this fight has never been about TSA**,” he added.

EDITED TO ADD: Blaming the Democrats was his reasoning!!

      >“If Democrats in the Congress will not act to honor the service of our TSA officers, who are now performing their critical public safety responsibilities without knowing whether they will be able to buy food for their families or pay their rent, then my Administration will take action,” the memo reads.

Sorry but the hill often shills for republicans despite the headline. Based on the story seems like the republican house voted against the funding bill again so trump could look like the hero. Tbh with the checks, I’ll believe it when I see it.

Psst, hey Cory the reason is written in plain language in project 2025, defund the TSA, break the Union, say the TSA doesn’t work and privatize the TSA. The administration is following the plan exactly as written in project 2025.

Is Booker arguing that the Trump administration should have unconstitutionally seized powers from the legislative he is an active member of sooner??

Human lives are tools for these psychos. Can we please start electing people who actually care about their neighbors and fellow humans?

Send ICE to Iran in the frontlines to lead the charge for pedophile Trump and GOP pedophile protectors.

Because some airlines dropped favorable treatment for those in Congress and Trump didn’t want his sycophants actually having to deal with that gaggle.

    8. It does seem like the kind of thing that should’ve been handled earlier. Situations like this just leave people wondering what caused the delay.

    9. when one person controls the purse, we call them a king.

Trump, as president, should not have the power to give people money, or decide how money is spent.

Congress needs to take responsibility here, because if they don’t, if they let the president take that responsibility, or, worse, force it on him, then we fall further into dictatorship.

The roman republic didn’t fall when the senate was disbanded, it fell when everybody stopped caring what they had to say.

    10. >‘Why didn’t he do this weeks ago’

Because two weeks ago he hadn’t set the precident that ICE could be deployed in America’s airports.

Booker doesn’t think Trump will withdraw them voluntarily, does he?

What booker should be saying is: Its not legal. He has held up the government to to pass an unfunded mandate to disenfranchise voters that is also in direct opposition to the Constitution while also allowing ICE to terrorize American streets. We had bill in place to fully fund the rest of DHS, but Donald Trump pushed his party to reject it. What Donald is proposing isnt a solution and like most of what he does, ignores the law.

    12. There is no reason why he couldn’t have done the same thing weeks ago.

But also, it is an ever increasing threat to the country how much power congress is ceding to the executive branch.

because it’s congresses job to send bills to the president, even a shitty one.

Disappointed in Dem leadership so far. The GOP sucks, but the Dems are feckless.

    14. Because it’s fucking illegal, Cory, you’re not supposed to be glad he’s doing it

    15. Why doesn’t he ever do his job? He is the President. His party was held up the legislation 9 times. Kennedy, a Republican, figured out how to get them paid but Trump said no, that he wasn’t going to work with Democrats.
Trump is a fraud. He is no leader and definitely not a dealmaker. If he was this would have never happened.

    16. because the GOP loves weaponizing the people’s suffering. or just causing pain for fun.

    17. Honestly because it is flatly illegal and congress is dumb for giving up more of their power to the exec branch.

Booker who? Mr “I’ve been silent for FUCKING MONTHS while cashing my AIPAC checks”

      That booker?

    19. Why is this guy’s head always doing so much in pictures.  Is this his face at rest?

    20. HammerandSickTatBro on

Well, mr. booker, presumably because you’ve given him every indication that you and your party will roll over and help him with his domestic and foreign goals at even the slightest sign that he might push back against you.

Can his EO legally get these TSA employees paid or is this all for show?

    22. This is pretty standard for Trump politics, create unnecessary problem, create half assed solution to the problem, claim its a victory.

    23. The ICE agents only want to stand around in their full armor and guns and intimidate people. Not scanning luggages.

    24. chaldea_fgo on

Paying TSA isnt important to Trump. He doesnt care about anyone else in the world but himself. He wants Congress to pass the save act to destroy elections and make him King. Paying TSA has nothing to do with that until it makes the dominos fall eventually hitting him in the back of the head because nobody can travel and hes getting blamed for it. The only solution to any problem brought before Trump needs to show that if he did it, it would benfit him immensely. Hes a narcissist and an idiot, a dangerous combination for the President of the US of A.

    25. Free_For__Me on

      This a real Catch-22.

If congress allows Trump to do this, they cede him even more power, as using funds for this that have been appropriated elsewhere is grossly illegal. If he’s allowed to move around funds this way in this case, you’d better believe the next case will be something even more egregious.

On the other hand, if congress blocks their use of funding in this manner, it will be easy for the White House to frame it as “Democrats stopping TSA agents from getting paid in order to use it as political ammo”.

Congress either hands MAGA a big political win, or hands them more of their constitutional power. Time will tell which is worse, I certainly can’t.
