Lewis faces a very tough task. The federal NDP has had structural issues that have been present for at least a decade that Lewis isn’t going to fix. The federal NDP’s electoral map is also currently terrible and it’s unlikely it will get better in the next election. Lewis will also likely piss of the remaining economically left/socially conservative voters in the party eventually. He will also make it harder for the NDP to win back places like Windsor West, London Fanshawe, Skeena, Powell River and etc because of how unappealing to the more blue collar electorate in these ridings.He will boost the NDP in some urban centres though but not win any seats in these areas. I think the federal NDP will struggle to get official party status in 2029.
