Dakar, Senegal is also built around a peninsula. Is there something in the region that explains this?

Thats actually a huge city that I didn’t know it existed. The populated area from side to side is 60km at longest

I love the islands of Tamra and Kassa (and Room…), you can imagine the half underwater volcano 🌋

I’m unfamiliar with this city. My first thought is that traffic must be just horrendous. Water travel must often be a faster option.
