      It would have still been #1 with only SEA (also using the same criteria for the rest of the artists)

      Just wild. So proud of them and of armys for showing up to show them that they really did stay.

      The fact that this album could still hit No. 1 without album physical sales says a lot, especially when you factor in YouTube being excluded.

      YouTube has historically been a huge metric for Korean artists in the U.S. I thought BTS would be more impacted by that change, but these numbers say otherwise. This is the biggest streaming debut (~100MM) the category has ever seen by a wide margin (even considering BTS past performance) and YouTube would have probably added at least 15MM to that streaming number.

      Biggest debut by a male artist this decade and 6th biggest overall (only behind taylor swift). This is so amazing.

      BTS are one of the biggest artists in the world atm. Also the past few days have shown how they’re truly global as they’re hitting #1 in different markets across countries and continents 🫶

      I am so so proud of them and so happy! Congratulations BTS! ARIRANG is smashing it everywhere and it’s so much deserved because what an album!

      641K units is insanity, this is the biggest debut week by any male artist this decade surpassing Drake’s Certified Lover Boy and only Taylor Swift and Adele has done more numbers then them. They also now hold the record for the biggest Vinyl sale week by any male act in history surpassing Harry Styles. It’s also crazy how they did ~100 million in streams (95K units) even without youtube counting any longer and they would still have debuted at number 1 without pure sales.

      The largest pure sales in a week for a group since Midnight Memories by One Direction in 2013. That was before streaming started to take off when most fans were still buying physical albums. The equivalent album units number for ARIRANG is actually higher than Midnight Memories sales numbers, but streaming wasn’t accounted for in the Billboard 200 until December 2014.
