      I don’t buy the low-quality, palm-oil-filled ‚chocolate‘ eggs or bars. I hear more and more are doing the same.

    2. We get less of a lower quality product and pay more for it. All in the never ending quest for infinite growth for our beloved shareholders.

      It’s the answer to literally all our problems.

      Haven’t bought an easter egg in my adult life & that ain’t going to change. Not letting a marketing ploy that uses religion dictate my spending habits.

      Simple. Yanks bought Cadbury, Changed the recipe for low grade ingredients, increase the prices for maximum profits for their shareholders.

      I swear when we moved from ‘customers,’ to ‘consumers,’ it’s like a shift occurred with companies where they just hate us because they have to give us any kind of tiny slop for our money

    7. The smaller sized egg and larger price is secondary for me. The reducing of cocoa butter and introduction of palm oil to thin out the chocolate is my issue. A double whammy and why I stay away from the big brands now. I’d rather pay more for the proper thing. I don’t like dark chocolate but good quality milk chocolate is hard to come by currently. Lidl Deluxe range is decent.

      That article actually gives a good overview of the price and ingredients of chocolate. It addresses too a lot of the bot/spam posts we see on this sub about palm oil and how it cannot be called milk chocolate. I doubt it will stop the bots but some good pointers.

    10. This, like all the holidays, are getting too commercial and we forget the true roots of the holiday itself.

      We must remember that Jesus went into the desert where he met a giant humanoid bipedal golden rabbit and that was laying chocolate eggs of various brand names, for him to hand out to everyone.

      Could have used the price/kg change when on the topic of shrinkage and price increase to really hit home those changes when comparing like for like.

      Am I right in how I imagine the 5% limit is like adding 5.26% water or oil to a flour/water dough mix and seeing the resulting change? 950g to 1000g for example?
