Out of the 6 most populous countries in the world, only one (USA) has qualified. These 6 make up just under half the world’s population.
Out of the top 10, only 2 (USA and Braxil) have. The top 10 have 57% of the world population.
It always amuses me, which world cup? I’m from India, so if someone mentions a tournament without the name of the sport, cricket is always the default thought. Took me a second to realize there.
having so many seats for south and north America (12) and so little for Africa (9) is just pure bullshit.
There is literally 40 big countries in Africa left not qualified and only 3 or 4 big countries left in Americas.
8 seats for Asia is also a comparably low but at least there football is often not single most popular sport.

eastern countries really don’t care about football as much as the west and africa.
