Carney’s predecessor in the LPC admired China’s basic dictatorship. If you’re expecting them to say anything ill of China, keep waiting.

China is the biggest trading partner of like 100 countries, including the USA. The Canadian woke right only thinks we should clutch our pearls at china because they are a successful socialist country. All these articles are full of overly sensitive hypocrisy, that we should ignore the human rights abuses of USA and Israel and any other of our ‚close allies‘, while forcing our politicians to into compelled ‚china is bad‘ speech to start every sentence.

How about we just keep our trade diversified and do deals that benefit Canadians.

  3. >Pragmatic in recognizing that progress is often incremental, that interests diverge, that not every partner will share all of our values. We are engaging broadly, strategically, with open eyes. We actively take on the world as it is, not wait for a world we wish to be.

Just like Climate, the LPC doesn’t care actually. The only ones who the government can be hard on is you.

  5. We’ve got spare time to care about China, do we?

Maybe Carney’s government could be fielded, and not sidestep, questions about Canada’s tens of immigrations schemes, used for labour exploitation and wage suppression?

  6. I love how human rights are brought out when it China.

Apparently we had no issue when America started an illegal war. Kidnapping head of states or supporting a genocide.

    Pick a lane.

    1. We are cool with America shenanigans, and we are cool with China shenanigans.

    2. We hold China to same standard as America.

IMO. I’ll do what best for Canada and it is getting whatever concession we can from America or China.

  7. anyone who didn’t see his mentality lines up with all of this from the start, give your heads a shake. Plenty of proof of his sneaky mindset

Carney should stick to the pragmatic approach he himself recommended. That would be (1) acknowledging that china has human rights abuses which Canada will not ignore but (2) we can still conduct mutually beneficial trade. Just admit that’s Canada’s position and most Canadians would accept that.

  9. Interesting that every comment here seems to agree there are forced labor camps filled with Uyghurs whose only “crime” is being a different ethnicity but Michael Ma doesn’t seem to know that.

  10. Carney and the Liberals are so obviously bought and in bed with the CCP. It’s not even a conspiracy at this point but an obvious fact.

Michael Ma isn’t in Cabinet, right? Should have the same vote as last time and see if he votes (or even shows up).

Isn’t everything we wear made in a sweatshop??? Seriously? Why are we pretending like we aren’t all buying shit from Amazon etc that we absolutely know is covered in all kinds of controversy

  13. It’s hilarious to me we are so eager to do trade deals beyond our borders with countries who subjugate their population to modern slavery instead of across provinces. What a dumbass country. I’m glad I moved to the US to make 2-3x the money without the political optical nonsense

  14. Sure why not resurrect this RadioFreeAsia CIA bullshit again! Fits right in with the austerity, defence spending, sanctioning the people getting their girls schools bombed by the epstein cabal. Who needs a conservative party anyway?

So, the Conservative party is now trying to convince us that the most important thing on their minds is the forced labour in China? And that we’re supposed to..what exactly? Break off trade with China? Start vocally criticizing them JUST after we secured a huge trade deal that will help out Canadian farmers?

    Really? Is ANYONE buying that?

I have to wonder, what’s the end game here? Because I can’t honestly see any other plan other than to make the Liberals look bad.

  16. Does this mean we can’t do business with America either? Goalposts have moved so I’m trying to figure out if locking up a minority group is the line now…

  17. At this point arent all these questions pretty disingenuous? when CUSMA negotiations are happening with the US are the exact same reporters going to ask ‚How do you feel about doing business with a country that abuses their own citizens and has caused thousands of deaths due to sanctions?‘

He wanted to tongue lick the CCP and now he has to also do a belly dance all the while thinking nasty thoughts about the former PM and his moronic decisions.

  19. Anyone realize China is currently assisting Russia with financial aid for the war????
