Imagine how powerful South America would be if the countries there formed a European Union like organization.

So Brazil is the only SA country that currently controls everything it has ever controlled.
It is at its maximum extent.

I remember the Top Gear Argentina special. I thought it was just Argentina claiming what wasn’t theirs but it seems it’s *everyone* in South America with some European interference

I think Paraguay managed to control more territories, during the Paraguayan War they managed to take Matto Grosso and Corrientes, or you are not including them because they didn’t hold them enough time?

In the last slide, for France, the Falklands (or at least part of them) should be blue as well. They were the first to discover & attempt to settle the islands, so even though that attempted colonisation failed & they left after a couple years, and made no real attempt to resettle there after that, they did claim & control the area for a little bit nonetheless.
Also you could argue that part of Panama should be coloured on the UK slide because of the Darien scheme, although again that venture failed spectacularly & didn’t last very long, but it was still claimed & controlled albeit very briefly.

Such a map of Europe would be funny. Especially France, Austria and Germany. But also Poland and Italy. Or Greece or Turkey
