My suspicion is that Russia may move against NATO soon. It’s almost as if Trump moved against Iran knowing that NATO would not support the war. That way, he could use that as an excuse not to honour the ***defensive*** alliance. The fact that NATO had no obligation to participate in ***offensive*** action will be lost on MAGA.

It’s like Trump has set out to achieve the goals laid out in Foundations of Geopolitics, written by a Russian fascist with strong connections to Putin and his party. Trump has done more to undermine transatlantic alliances and security arrangements than anyone could have thought possible in the last seventy-five years. It is really shocking to see Trump attack what the United States spent over a century building and defending (free-market capitalism and American normative, economic, and military dominance) for almost no gain to the country; it’s not shocking that a cretin like Trump would be so self-interested to put himself so far ahead of the country’s interests, but it is shocking that so many Americans are still along for the ride and cannot see it.

I think most of NATO realized the US was not going to be there in the case of Russian aggression the moment Trump was elected again. Since then he’s threatened to invade multiple NATO countries while handing Putin a wish list of foreign policy decisions.

He refused to condemn multiple Russian attacks on EU members, and has been trying to pressure Ukraine into giving up territory for Putin. Even now Russia is giving US troop locations to the Revolutionary Guard, helping them target US bases, and Trump is removing sanctions on them. 🤯

Given that NATO’s biggest threat lately has been the United States, this latest screw-our-allies statement by Trump really isn’t surprising. NATO should (and probably is) making plans for defending the alliance without the USA.

  5. Trump may be a godawful fascist, but being stupid enough to pull the US out of NATO would be the funniest thing he could possibly ever do. You want to unilaterally destroy decades of built American hegemony overnight? Pop off king, I say let him cook

Of course, he’ll never do it, or rather never be allowed to do it, but it’s funny to consider it anyway.

With the US holding about 25% of the world’s govt debt and therefore a reduction in military spending looming, I wonder who needs who?

let’s – just for a second – break it down to a level that even the maga’ctivists could understand

    imagine you’re going to school,
after the school started several groups of friends started to form

unfortunatly – like any bad school – you also have some bullies in your school
one or another even within your own class

to prevent the bullies from harming you … you clearly tell them that if he touches one out of our group he’ll get into immediate beef with all the others as well

and it works wonders, despite being strong they don’t realy want to get involved in the mess of a groupfight … until one day one of said bullies decides that it would be quite fun to „play a little“ with your deskmate right next to you

you, nice as you are choose to help … but you also don’t realy want to get into a messy fight with the bully yourself … so, nice words it is … damn doesn’t realy help the bully just won’t listen to reason

so … we could help? right … standing in the middle? getting the teacher involved?
nah, better idea … let’s give our deskmate a pair of boxing gloves and knuckles …

oh, but wait … while your still getting beaten up by the bully my „friend“ just told me that you’ll only get em if you first empty your portmoinet and hand over your packed lunch to him

. . . great, let’s just hope that the bully gets bored soon and that my deskmate can hold out a bit longer

now, while he still get’s bullied my „friend“ suddenly starts to constantly grab towards my schoolbag … i don’t like it and when i asked why the f*** he does that he just tells me that i have to give him my book … after all, it’s his … he even goes so far as to threaten beating me up if i don’t give him my book

while my deskmate still get’s beaten up i now suddenly have to keep a weary eye on my own friend, becouse he starts behaving a little bit … well … unpredictable … like a mentally ill clown

and half a minute later my „friend“ jumps up out of the blue … runs to another desk and punches the guy sitting there right in the middle of his face …

and then, when that guy actually starts defending himself and punches back towards my „friend“ … my „friend“ starts shouting why the f*** i’m not there yet helping him like good friends should do

despite my friend being actually stronger then me
despite my friend threatening to beat me up just a minute ago
despite the local bully still beating up my deskmate right next to me

and now uses the fact that i’m pissed and don’t realy have the luxury to step into the fight he started out of nowhere to cancel our friendship against the local bullies …

tell ya what, the most happy about your behavier are the local bullies …
and congratulation on getting onto that list of bullies yourself just now …

  9. The idea that Canada or any other country without vested interest would declare war because Turkey, Hungary or any other country of little consequence was attacked is political theatre at its most delusional

Um it’s a defence mechanism not an offensive weapon.
It’s ok 👌. Ww3 fought on US territory this time. To liberate the people and those illegally imprisoned.

    NATO is a defensive alliance.

When 9/11 happened, we were tripping over ourselves to help, militarily. How many non-USA troops died for the USA?

And if Trump had come to NATO first, to chat about his plans, they would have said „Bad idea. That’s why none of the other presidents did it.“

Which is why he didn’t consult first.

You can’t kick a hornet’s nest, all by yourself and then come crying.
