Spain 🇪🇸 rural area’s population density is as sparsely populated as the US 🇺🇲 Midwest.

I find it funny that Flanders has a lot of small villages and forests and still tops out in the top of European population density excluding micro nations.

I hope this clarifies why the tears for the decrease of population in Italy are totally out of place. This country is absurdly overpopulated for no reason at all considering that so much of the territory is mountains or steep hills.

Yes I get it, dealing with a depopulation phase is not easy, but the ‚mistake‘ was to have so many people in such a limited space and needs to be corrected. And in the end it will be for the better.

Italy should have a density similar to what we see in Austria, Spain or France (and potentially France is more suitable to have a higher density).

  5. Uusimaa in Finland should be darker purple, as the population density for the region is almost 200/km2.
