Will there be a ‚report for verification‘ button? THEN I’d be delighted to help counter all the hate-bots and Russian trolls.

Are they doing this just for the halibut, or will there be a porpoise to it?

The moment I am required to send any data to prove I’m human is the day my account will become restricted or dead. No way do I trust this and Reddit commenting isn’t worth it.

Just ban every account under a month old that is asking if they are the asshole for not giving up their first class plane ticket to a rich person who didn’t buy one for their kid. That should take care of at least 90% of the bots.

Reddit goes down the path of enshitiffication like everything else.

This is a necessary improvement and you people complaining should try to educate yourselves before whining and bitching about Reddit making an improvement to their service.

this’ll fix it. there will be no more bots now

Ask yourselves, how many times have you gone to a website and it asked you to verify if you’re a human. Reddit included.
I would assume this is where we are headed. Instead of using a CAPTCHA they will want your face. It won’t be for a few „fishy“ people.

Define „fishy“. What’s their criteria for fishy?

Fishy= Russian

First, they came for the fishy accounts and I said nothing, because I was not a fishy account and “fuck bots”
Then they introduced verification for everyone and there was no one there to speak for me… because they already left Reddit over the age verification privacy violation.

I don’t have a problem with that.

Serious question- why not clear out the bots? There are a whole ton spreading misinformation. If I’d rather them cull the bots out so we can actually know these comments are human. What am
I missing?

Reddit should require people who are mods to go thru background checks.
gummi_girl on
if it actually works and isn’t actually just a way to steal data from people or force them to identify themselves, i’m all for it. less bots pls
Seeking-Something-3 on
And then Reddit disappears all the human users so the bots can argue with each other 👍

My account got hit with this yesterday and they just asked for a captcha and password change. Nothing crazy at all. I honestly assumed the behavior they brought up was someone trying to log in elsewhere or something.
