Lukaschenko gibt Kim Jong-un ein Gewehr, „für den Fall, dass Feinde auftauchen“

Kim Jong-un was given an automatic rifle by [the visiting president of Belarus](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/lukashenko/) “in case enemies appear”.

Alexander Lukashenko signed a “friendship and cooperation” treaty with the [North Korean](https://www.telegraph.co.uk/north-korea/) leader on Thursday as they hailed a “new phase” in relations between Minsk and Pyongyang.

State media footage released by Belarus showed Mr Lukashenko giving Kim what appeared to be an automatic rifle. Kim responded with a gesture of reloading the weapon and said: “Thank you.”

“That’s right … just in case enemies appear,” Mr Lukashenko added as Kim laughed.

The North Korean leader also gave Mr Lukashenko the gift of a large mosaic vase with the Belarusian dictator’s face on the front. He said the delicate piece of craftwork featured around 30 seashells.

Belarus and North Korea are part of a new global alliance, led by Russia and China, which seeks to challenge and undermine Western hegemony.
