Really pretty, especially for an English single. And he’s trying a new style of singing too!

    3. The instrumental is pretty, and Taemin’s voice is so warm. Was a bit lukewarm about the song when we first heard it, but I’m fully sold, there’s something hypnotic about it. The melodies sound like it should be relaxing, open, but the production and delivery never let it take off, there is no escalation, no release. It results in this suspended feeling, spinning in place – which perfectly matches the lyrics. What a cool first English song.

      Taemin now yearning in English!

I love how „full-bodied“ the production sounds, like the instrumentation is so pretty. I already knew the live version so at first listen I was quite surprised by the autotune that’s used at some parts, but since the song has this kind of retro 90s/early 2000s vibe I think it acutally makes sense to use it, even if I’m not a the biggest fan of stylistic autotune. In any case, I love to see Taemin credited as a producer, I think he has soooo much to give to us music wise.

I think it’s a very pretty, loopable song and I will get a lot of listens out of it – it’s kinda funny how different it is to his last release Veil, but that’s the beauty of Taemin, he does everything from demonic church of satan music to romantic wistful yearning. I’m looking forward to the official performance videos from the Grammy Museum and Jennifer Hudson show.

From the Forbes article: *“For the song, TAEMIN collaborated with Ben Parris and Corey Marlon Lindsay-Keay, a.k.a. Believve. Lindsay-Keay previously worked with popular artists like Tyla, LISA, Usher, Imagine Dragons, Rauw Alejandro, Muni Long, and more. The Yoo Group and Def Jam Recordings‘ distribution arm Definity are working closely with TAEMIN to distribute his debut English song.“*

Reading Taemin’s name in the same sentence as Def Jam Recordings is wild to me. Why do I have a feeling I am not ready for what’s coming AT ALL…
