    This study confirmed the therapeutic efficacy of mindfulness meditation in patients with internet gaming disorder (that is accompanied by depression). Mechanistically, mindfulness meditation alleviated depression and gaming addiction primarily by enhancing the functional connectivity of the executive control network, frontal-striatal pathway, default mode network, and the prefrontal–amygdala pathway (key for emotion regulation). This enhancement improved emotion regulation, cognitive control, and craving inhibition abilities, thereby interrupting negative reinforcement mechanisms and alleviating depression and gaming addiction. These results indicate that mindfulness meditation is a promising treatment option for patients with internet gaming disorder (accompanied by depression), and provide a valuable reference for further investigation of the effectiveness and mechanisms of mindfulness meditation in addictive disorders.

    Why do they call it „*internet* gaming disorder“? I think it’s just „gaming disorder“ or simply „video game addiction“.

    One thing of note is that there is a link between meditation / mindfulness among neurodiverse people and increased risk of schizophrenia.
