  1. To be fair, anyone who cares what a celebrity thinks about politics should find better sources

There is politics, and then there is the situation we find ourselves in now. If you stay silent, you are alienating rational adults. Good luck appealing to maga.

You must be MAGA, Josh. Because anyone who’s not and has the world’s attention should want to fight for change.

Awe man. How disappointing. And stupid. He literally is not being silent by saying this.

  5. What politics are you talking about Josh? Cause if you wanna stay quiet on the roll back on basic civil liberties to not piss anyone off you kinda arent great.

Edit: Got him mixed up with Tim Olyphant

  6. Yikes. Even Michael Jordan abandoned his “republicans buy shoes too” approach in the past decade after seeing all the heinous shit going on in our country.

Ironic that Josh is probably alienating a huge part of his audience by saying this. Oh well, he’s a budget Timothy Olyphant in my book anyway.

  7. The only people that say this are conservatives who want anyone that don’t share their views and values to stay quiet.

Because less than 30% if Americans support Conservative billionaires?

“I don’t like to get political, also, I have a lot of very far right beliefs…”

Celebs have a bigger platform that can reach more people. They also pay taxes it’s their right to be vocal even if you don’t like what they are saying.

I however don’t believe we need any more celebrities running for office but again that’s their right if they choose to do so.

Years ago I might’ve agreed with the sentiment, until now that I’ve realized this is MAGA talking point.

As a publicist…he’s absolutely correct. You’re going to alienate your audience no matter what side you’re on.

Yes, from a purely capitalistic viewpoint, why would you risk losing some amount of potential revenue? This is why amorality is materially indistinguishable from immorality and why pretending politics is not inherent to culture itself is childish at best.

Because having an opinion, and sticking to it in the face of opposition, is a sign of character. And character is a brand that will resonate for many years to come.

  15. You’re getting paid either way, man. Unlike people who work normal jobs and talk politics online.

  16. GuyMansworth on

Lol every time they do this they turn out to be MAGA.

Bro won’t stay silent. Bro will not face any fallout from not staying silent. Then he’ll complain about free speech.

    Conservatives are so fucking stupid.

  17. I hate this take. It presumes politics always boils down to picking a side and mindlessly backing them. Real political discourse is about issues that are important to real people, and often they don’t divide the country. There are tons of issues that Congress has done little about that 80+% of the public are in favour of. Maybe lend your voice to those issues?

  18. In Russia, going against the government is not a branding issue. It is how people fall out of windows or end up in psychiatric institutions. Staying quiet might start as fear of losing fans, but it can turn into fear of losing your life. Do nothing now and it only gets worse later.

Yes, why split his audience of 10 into 5? Come on now, y’all. Be kind. /s

Life is inherently political. Pretending to avoid it because you’re financially secure and of the hegemonic group isn’t an excuse.

  21. No_Information_2826 on

Yeah fuck him 1000%. Now is not the time to be silent. Silence in this time is using a megaphone to scream „I’m a sympathizer!“ Easy to do, I guess, as a wealthy, straight, white male in this country right now.

  22. _tomato_paste_ on

I mean… I’d rather most of them stay silent because a lot of these people don’t have informed or intelligent takes in general

    Integrity? Common sense? Patriotism?

It’s like he’s asking why would he do or say anything that might inconvenience him for the sake of other people and future generations.

Why do celebrities have to say anything? Do these fools not realize their words have weight no matter what they say? Sit down, shut up if you don’t want to be political.
