      Are there records that describe the time the boats were sailing, or is this based on estimations?

      Clearly not sailing times, as indicated by the text on the map and it being impossible to sail to some of the locations listed.

      So it took about 2 months to travel from one end of the empire to the other?

      Is there an equivalent map with Constantinople at the centre? I would be curious to see what was within range for the Eastern Roman Empire on the same terms.

      I think this is much slower than reality. Google Maps says it’s two days to walk across Italy, starting in Rome and going to Pescara.

      Now modern roads are better, but Roman roads were famously not bad and it’s the same topology. I can’t see why it should be a week in Roman times and two days now.
