    1. it should be fully terminated. It used to be political rather than entertainment in the past, now nobody simply cares about it

Hungary’s actual reason might be similar to Slovakia, but they just don’t want to reveal it

    3. I don’t like the music for the most parts, but the „too gay“ reasoning from Hungary makes it a lot more appealing.

The irony of a contest meant to unite Europe being derailed by a country that isn’t even in Europe.

    5. Uuuh are Morocco and Algeria even in? I don’t think I’ve ever seen them participate.

    6. Russia’s reason is really the same a Belarus’s. They were allowed to participate in the first Eurovision after the invasion and the public broadcaster chose to send a thinly veiled protest song, „Russian Woman“, during the stage show for which the visuals at one point showed dozens of Russian dissidents singing the chorus. It was only after the public broadcaster lost its editorial independence, a condition for participation in Eurovision, that they stopped being allowed to participate.

    7. Algeria and Tunisia? I know they’re members of EBU, but have they ever shown even a slight interest to participate?

    8. Damn Israel, we lost those famous ESC contestants Morocco, Algeria and Tunisia again…

The main reason for Slovakia not participating for years is money. It’s just too expensive for the public broadcaster and not profitable for private stations. The few years when Slovakia did send someone were usually paid by sponsors of that artist.

This map has made me realise my knowledge of central and eastern european geography is really not great. I actually had to look up which way round Slovakia and Hungary were.

Although I don’t think one could blame anyone for getting the former Yugoslavian countries mixed up.

    12. Turkey is right.

Belarus political songs?! I thought it’s the same reason as Russia
