  1. > John Boyega confirmed to “Star Wars” fans at Megacon Orlando (via ScreenRant) that he’s spoken to new Lucasfilm boss Dave Filoni, who is now the studio’s chief creative officer and president following the exit of Kathleen Kennedy. The specifics of what Boyega and Filoni spoke about were not revealed. When a fan yelled out to Boyega to “get Dave on the phone” after he was asked about returning to “Star Wars” as Finn, the actor answered: “I actually have, actually.”

Unfortunately for Boyega, Finn doesn’t seem like one of Dave Filoni’s pets in the way that Ahsoka that that character played by Katee Sackhoff are.

    They did him dirty.

So dirty I would rather see them forget about it and move on to something else.

I still remember seeing that clip of him holding the lightsaber and thinking he looked so fucking cool. Give us Jedi Finn you nuts

The writing for his character was bad and he overacted most scenes. Bad combo, even in Star Wars. I’d rather have more Kelly Tran.

  6. I’m pretty sure his origin is the thing that made his character disservice the most. He is a Stormtrooper, which are just cannon fodder to heroes in the SW universe, and on top of it, he wasn’t even good one at that.

Compared to him, Rey is a mysterious protege, and Poe is a hotshot pilot that can take out star destroyers on his own. So even though the character had the most fun personality compared to the other two, dude was shot in the foot with that origin as the audience could never see him as a lead.

They should’ve just made him Lando’s son that was on an undercover assignment as a stormtrooper.

  7. boring character from a not too interesting actor

on second thought, it fits Disney Star Wars perfectly…

I wonder if there’s a way to call a mulligan on the neutered “Stormtrooper Revolt” storyline they had planned for him. Maybe he’s working to de-radicalize the remnants of the First Order.

From time to time, rumors have surfaced about a 24 movie in development hell. If that ever happens, I’d love to see John Boyega in that. His character, Chris Tanner is presumably still alive, and now that Boyega established himself more I could see that character taking on a more principal role.

I wish they would just Patrick Duffy the sequel trilogy. The Finn character was fine but my god.

  11. Well in Disney’s defense, they pretty much messed up that whole trilogy. I watched them out of a feeling of needing to see all nine. Not because they were entertaining.

  12. I know most comments are “Finn got done dirty.” I guess I’m in the minority that never found him very interesting. Even in episode 7. I liked him a lot with Oscar Isaac’s character though.

  13. They did his character so dirty. It wasn’t even worth watching with boring ass Rey.

I loved his intro in Ep 7. He was totally wasted once Kylo sliced him.

  15. How to fix the Sequel Trilogy:

Finn wakes up from coma after TFA.

“… I just had the dumbest dream about Palpatine coming back.”

  16. LiffeyDodge on

I wish they took his character somewhere. Why would he be wilding a lightsaber if he didn’t have potential?

  17. One of their biggest misses, Finn was the most interesting character and arguably shared the main character spot in TFA just to be wasted in both sequels.

    But they didn’t sideline a „black character“.

They sidelined a character, who happened to be black.

What they did with the character was a waste but his race was irrelevant.

  19. Right-Pirate-7084 on

I’d rather see less of any Star Wars. Maybe we get some turnover, and I age and forget these recent years.

  20. CosmicJam13 on

How dare they make him wield a lightsaber and then not turn him into a Jedi! Disney you psychos!

  21. All these people saying they did him dirty…his character sucking is on them however his lousy acting is on him…and it wasn’t cause he was black or some conspiracy it was just because he’s was bad all around.

  22. A lot of people are going to shit talk him for potentially going back as if the hierarchy at Lucasfilm changing (along with the potential interpretation of his character going forward) isn’t a massive reason to potentially rethink your decision.

  23. sickostrich244 on

Let’s just move on… his character was done so dirty but that whole trilogy needs to just be forgotten about as it was such a mess

  24. Foreign_Rock6944 on

Boyega is such a doofus. One of those “let’s make everything about race” types.

  25. Finn could have done more for sure but I wouldn’t describe him as “sidelined”

  26. I think Disneys best option at this point is to start a new trilogy with James Mangolds Jedi origin movie and focus solely on that. No more random spin-offs

  27. BillianForsee94 on

I genuinely don’t understand why he was so upset. Finn was one of the top main characters throughout the entire sequel trilogy. Different films will have different levels of focus on characters if they’re not the *true* main hero (Rey) or antagonist (Kylo). Thats just natural – thats how stories work lol.

So is his argument implying that Disney is automatically doing something wrong if a black character isn’t the undisputed primary hero? That’s just not a reasonable thing to say.

  28. It’s not his character alone, the whole sequels are boring and a gigantic mess and he is tide to a project most people at Disney just won’t to forget about.

It’s just an unfortunate situation for him. Call it collateral damage

  29. Capt-Crap1corn on

I’ve heard Star Wars fans are insufferable. I’ve watched the OG movies and the remakes, but not the recent released movies. It’s hard to keep track and follow along. When I read the comments in the threads, I do not feel motivated to watch them. I don’t think most people are happy with them. It’s never enough.

  30. Inevitable-Feed-6968 on

This dude never shuts up- he was a terrible actor in a terrible film

  31. JustABrokePoser on

I thought he snubbed the idea of coming back and the fans on interviews, now he’s fighting for „sidelined“ characters he doesn’t even like?

  32. Own_Fisherman1199 on

Disney needs to put Star Wars on ice for a while before they damage the brand any further
