I really think to go fully automated on the roads we need a decentralized system that connects between all cars on the road and collectively negotiates everyone’s journey the way flights are planned out. We’d also need to ban people from driving manually but I doubt we’d need 300gb of RAM if we did it this way lol. We would just need a reliable way to stay connected so nobody deviates from the plan in the middle of traffic.

Micron is wrong and stupid. Teslas AI4, which is pretty good, uses 16gb.
lets see, they are observing that pretty much everyone will need more memory but instead of increasing manufacturing capacity, they continue to limit pro so they can keep their high prices.

Screw off…there is no way a car needs that much RAM in it ever….I don’t need a full functioning computer on wheels. I need something that I control with a very basic electronic control board and manual buttons (I despise the tablet controls despite working in IT).
Anyone who believes Micron determines how much memory is required for any end user application must be completely oblivious to how customer supplier relationships work.
If it was up to Micron to determine how much memory the car manufacturers need, why would they limit it to 300 GB?
The prediction of future needs is based on what their customers are telling them, it’s not something they arbitrarily come up with internally.
Or we could just not do that?
