„Es kann (noch) nur einen geben“: „Highlander“ (1986) ist 40 | Sicher, es ist in vielerlei Hinsicht kitschig, aber seine zentrale Mythologie schwingt auch Jahrzehnte später noch mit.

All due respect but the one true highlander is Duncan Mcloud from the clan Mcloud played by the one and only Adrien Paul.

If your movie doesn’t have a Spaniard with a Scottish accent, wielding a katana, are you even *TRYING* to make a good movie?

When I was 14 I caught it on TV, went in cold as it was pre-internet. Was totally dumbfounded by the plot, the flashbacks; it’s a wild ride when you have no idea what it’s about. Still one of my favorite comfort watches to this day.

I don’t think the Highlander is „cheesy“. It’s a fun fantasy film. It shouldn’t have stopped at the first film since Conner won. But alas they did not. And while the TV show was okay, I’d rather it still be Conner that wins the prize instead of having a Conner adjacent replacement that Duncan basically was.

One of my favorite films of all time. The Soundtrack alone is absolute gold.
