      I call it now. Monday evening he’ll release a statement saying he was locked and loaded with his finger on the trigger but after receiving many phone calls from Arab, European and world leaders who told him to not strike Iranian power plants he has decided to hold off on it FOR NOW but that he can change his mind at anytime. And then he’ll say the strait isn’t actually that important for the US and they don’t need or use it, and he was just trying to help the world but they told him Mr President please don’t do it. He will then also repeat that we have already won the war and obliterated Iran, there is nothing left and he also had the Iranian people in mind for not destroying the power plants because it would destroy their country like never before and they probably won’t be able to ever rebuild again and he doesn’t want that. Thank you for your attention on this matter!

      Trump is searching for anything to get Iran to surrender from his war. He can’t accept that Iran was well prepared for this war. They knew that closing the Strait would cause damage to the world economy. Iran is Trump’s Ukraine.

      Trump is playing a game of chicken with Iran, and he is hoping they will blink first and veer away … he is used to using his usual threats of force to try to beat them into submission. Trouble is, they won’t blink and are quite capable of causing widespread destruction of countries across the Middle East.

      The biggest concern here is that this fucker gets pushed to a point where employing nukes becomes a possibility to him. And we know that he’d love to be the first president in 80 years to drop a nuke . And once that happens, the world might unravel for good

      Trump needs to do something he’s never had to do before… de-escalate, before he fully loses this war.

      He allowed Netanyahu to walk him and America into a trap that no previous president was dumb enough to fall for.

      So it’s figure out how to end this ASAP… or go all in with a full scale ground campaign leading to massive casualties and another multi-decade military commitment.

      the „open to all but enemy-linked ships“ framing is actually the most interesting strategic move Iran has made here. it’s designed to isolate the US from everyone else who needs that oil.

      China gets its tankers through. India gets its tankers through. Europe gets its tankers through. none of them have any material reason to side with Washington now. Iran basically made the entire US-built coalition structurally irrelevant in one press statement.

      people keep acting like Iran is just reacting and flailing. i’d push back on that. this is a deliberate attempt to drive a wedge between the US and everyone who doesn’t want to pay $200/barrel because Trump had a feeling. whether it works is another question, but calling it desperation misreads what they’re actually doing.
