I actually think most of the comments made in this piece are fair, as much as I think people here might over-react to the headline:

    * Complimented Carney for a more balanced approach between energy and the environment, but pointed out that mcuh more progress is needed beyond the MOU signed. Rising cost of oil underscores the importance Energy will continue to play in the global economy. Not a negative score by any means, but a „hey, we still have way more to do here“
    * Complimented Carney for increasing spending in the military, but indicated that we can only really judge progress here when we know how the incremental spending will be used.
    * Complimented Carney for pivoting on immigration, however they highlighted that Diab is watering down criteria for our economic immigration programs. This is obvious through steadily declining cut-off scores, which are indicators of how likely an immigrant will be successful in Canada.
    * Complimented Bill C-9, indicating it is more reasonable than the previous Online Harms bill. Criticized the Liberals for the Gun Buyback program, which isn’t going to reduce crime.

I actually thought this was the more interesting criticism of Carney’s tenure so far:

    * He vowed to build the strongest economy in the G7, yet GDP growth has been flat in the last three quarters, coming in slightly below the G7 average.

We’re under-performing economically among our G7 peers despiting electing an economist specifically to bolster our economy. It does make you wonder as to when Carney’s exceptional background and knowledge will actually start making an outsized impact to our economic growth.

I think Carney has represented us well on the world stage and domestically he has avoided much of the potholes Trudeau fell into – even course-correcting where needed. But big expectations on the economy could eventually catch up with him if we don’t start at least seeing GDP growth above the G7 average, without falling back onto heavy immigration as a driver.

Nah, Carney has got at least another year or so before there’s a significant amount of ‚put up or shut up‘ thanks to an appearance of (some) substantive governance changes. What I’m more curious about is for how long the rest of the government at large is going to continue to enjoy standing in the shadow of the grace Canadians are extending to Carney

Who are they to tell us?? Yes let’s have a new election in hopes of a worse leader who was just in New York meeting with Bill Ackman. Wonder if Bill has something to do with this?

Its a big group and you ain’t in it.
