We talk to less about Plato/Sokrates in this sub. He got sentenced to death by the system for telling the truth. 

The man in the cave serves as a useful metaphor to describe several things. The demiurge specifically is developed to describe the origin of the universe, but the man in the cave could be unable to directly perceive this (ie leave the cave), or he might be unable to do something else. Maybe he can’t see physical reality at all because there’s a layer between is perception and recognition of it. Maybe he can’t recognize the power of society because that power has made itself hidden. Maybe _all_ of these metaphors can potentially reuse the same principle of the cave, because the cave is a pattern that can be applied in many ways.
