Trump has his demands and so do the Iranians.
The gap between them is still quite large.
It is difficult to see why Admin officials think 2-3 weeks is enough to bridge the distance.
“Witkoff and Kushner’s terms will be similar to the ones they presented in Geneva two days before the war started, according to the sources.”

The US is not in a strong position right now and Iran knows it.
The Strait is closed shut and there are no short term viable military options to open it. Sending warships to run the Hormuz gauntlet is a suicide mission and a few thousand US Marines are nowhere near enough to secure the coast around the Strait. The fact that Iran just hit Israel’s Dinoma nuclear site in Arad suggests degrading interception capabilities.
Trump plants to ask for $200 billion in additional funding to finance the war and Congress may or may not approve it. If it does not, then keeping the war effort going will be really hard. Iran also knows that the mid-term election are coming and the longer it keeps the economic pain going, the more likely it is the Trump will lose both the House and the Senate.
This could become America’s Suez Canal moment.
EDIT:
>“If Iran doesn’t FULLY OPEN, WITHOUT THREAT, the Strait of Hormuz, within 48 HOURS from this exact point in time, the United States of America will hit and obliterate their various POWER PLANTS, STARTING WITH THE BIGGEST ONE FIRST! Thank you for your attention to this matter. President DONALD J. TRUMP”
War crime, yo. Likely to result in every water desalinization plant in the gulf going up in smoke.

It would be fascinating to see what Trumps team “game planning” looks like. Is DJT part of it? If so do they all have to flatter and coddle him? Do they tell him the reality of the situation?

It is really, really hard to see how that can go throw. And it is hard to understand why again use Witkoff and Kushner. Basically just all the same. And now Iranians would think they win the war – at least withstand it. Why they would agreed now?

We can all be certain of one thing. Whatever they come up with will be far worse for the US than the prior status quo. And it will somehow be even dumber than any of us can imagine.
Time to earn that FIFA Peace Prize!

Peace talks, that’s becoming a trend when Israel is out of interceptors. I find it highly unlikely that Iran is going to agree to these terms. Iran seeking guarantees that the war will not resume in the future, how would that be enforced? By their word?
Israel is most likely in a vulnerable position and when they rearm and regroup so to speak, they won’t hesitate trying to finish the job they started, maybe the US will join them, all though I’m not so sure if Trump and Bibi will still be friends when this war will be over.

Yes, he is desperate and out of options.
