Probably thought it was a rus drone joking around. That’s the kind of „funny“ they go for, hence the annoyance with a hint of worry in his face , and letting it get so close without a reaction.
If I was in that situation I’d just accept death too. These guys have nothing to live for.

He was resigned to his fate long ago. He was ready for it to be over. The stress, the not knowing when it was going to happen, the exhaustion. He was probably relieved.
