As much as I love Mercator, it is really unsuitable for this kind of data – note that the software had to space out the contours MORE in the north than in the south to account for latitudinal stretching.
The scale bar is a lie. It increases by 1/cosine θ where θ is latitude
Could have picked azimuthal equidistant centered on Iran, or orthographic showing the earth like a globe from a specific vantage point. Even a pseudocylindrical compromise projection would have looked better than this.

Question, though, I don’t see California on this map, but I have it on extremely good authority that Iran was ready to launch an attack there…let me check the figures really quickly…it’s only 7700 miles away, or 12000 km. I don’t see that range specified on this chart. I wonder if I’ve been lied to? But no, your chart must be wrong
