TOKYO, Japan — Iran is ready to let Japanese-related vessels pass through the Strait of Hormuz, a vital artery for global oil supplies, Kyodo news reports, citing Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi.
Tehran has started talks with Tokyo about possibly opening the strait, Araqchi tells the Japanese news agency in a phone interview.
Japan depends on the Middle East for around 95 percent of its oil supplies and gets around 90% of its oil shipments via the strait, which Tehran has largely closed during the US-Israeli war on Iran.
The regime really likes hentai.
they are telling the Us come take kharg island if you dare. a total f you to trump and netanyahu
the united states, is afraid to lose so they cannot win.
the united states should abandon this idea that they can maintain what the global economy was before the attack on iran. that is gone, it’s not coming back. the global economy isn’t going to get out of this unscathed, this is going to hurt the united states, the only question is how much it will hurt.
the united states needs to show iran that those who ally with the west benefit while those that work against the united states lose, together we succeed. we’re all going to be losing for a while, but the united states maintains control of the worlds trade lanes. the united states needs to close off the straits themselves, but not in their own name. the united states should adopt irans strategy and just drop a few mines in the water, try and make them as close to iranian production as possible so it’s iran who is blamed for damages. close off the straits and work towards alternative methods, let countries and companies know that this will go on for as long as iran decides it will go on.
knowing that this will be long term situation and prices will be higher for an extended amount of time will spur investment into drilling for oil, possibly for building new pipelines.
winning this war for the united states means iran comes out of this friendly to the united states, that’s not likely to happen and there’s nothing else that would be worth the cost of this adventure, but neutralizing iran in future situations would be the best thing the united states can do for itself short of that goal and it’s the only way to gain leverage against iran in any future confrontation. it will be a huge expenditure but there’s not another way to achieve a positive outcome, being able to function without the straits of hormuz is the only way to stop iran from being able to create this same threat in the future and it’s the only way this makes sense. success doesn’t need to be the same level of success as before, it just needs to be manageable
don’t attack irans energy infrastructure, invite it to rejoin the international order, no one wants to see that oil infrastructure destroyed, everyone wants to benefit from it
make irans threats to block the straits reality by doing it for them, make sure no ships can transit the straits without increased risk, blame it all on iran. make the messaging around how iran cannot control it’s own forces, get everyone on side asking iran to open the straits and recognizing that this kind of blockade cannot benefit some while harming others, everyone wins or everyone loses together.
move away from the straits of hormuz as a necessity to international trade, it cannot be replaced, but making it a desired benefit rather than a necessity will reduce iranian leverage in the future
