Can the Ottomans even be considered a part of it? Afaik they largely sat it out except for that french invasion attempt in Egypt where they wanted to control the UK-India trade.

It was fascinating to see how hard the Ottomans besieged Vienna and lost and how casually Napoleon did it whilst trying to chase down a Russian Army (Though he fought them for so long and hard in his Italian campaigns) . They simply seem to have given up after a while

Also the ancestor of Germany (Prussia) started out in Konigsberg which was not where i thought they would originate from and it is now a Russian city

  3. Hah just saw the big ass flag of the Spanish ship from the battle of Trafalgar ten minutes ago in another post. Then got lost on Wikipedia reading about the Napoleonic wars and the third coalition. Now I get this.

Might be a new alternative for thinking about the Roman Empire.

Oh BEAUTIFUL all those tiny little kingdoms with their own specific laws and traditions

  5. Were all those little areas around what is now Germany, essentially their own kingdoms and states or were they vassals of a larger kingdom?

So Russia just took all that Polish territory from Austria and Prussia after?
