      I feel like it’s misleading that the word “radio” wasn’t used in the title here. Yeah, Bari Weiss sucks, and you could argue that this was a bad business decision, but as a non-expert, I don’t have a hard time buying the suggestion that the radio news division really unprofitable. It’s something I could imagine someone without Weiss’s political views doing, anyway.

      This is part of the layoffs happening today, in which 15% of the workforce at CBS News is being shutdown. This is also three days after employees at their streaming division, CBS News 24/7, walked out over contract negotiations stalling and held a protest outside the broadcast center in NYC. So now Cbs is having surprise layoffs to take revenge.

      I’m assuming that none of us have heard a CBS News update on the radio in the past several years, if ever.

      America’s most treasured show was CBS News Radio? I’m not even sure in peak radio days, it was the „the most treasured“ and that was decades ago.

      They sure are helping with that ‘Death To America’ thing, aren’t they. First ‘Voice of America’ (even though I saw the headlines about hiring employees back), and now they are dismantling CBS News. Free press, 1st amendment, voting rights – where will it end?

      I’m calling BS. Just what do you suppose it costs for a news gathering operation to spit out a radio news report? No need for cameras, lighting, make-up or even a studio. Just take the news that CBS News is supposedly already gathering and say it into a microphone, digitally record it, then send the product to affiliate stations for a fee.

      The people in here shitting on the headline is absolutely wild. It was broadcasting the news for nearly 100 years. One of the very first to so on radio. It was “treasured” to an entire generation.

      At the end of the day Bari Weiss is dismantling CBS so it falls in line with MAGA propaganda. Focusing on a single word in a headline is pedantic & unproductive.
