      it’s also interesting to see what percentage of those countries is covered by Alps, for example Austria is 65.5% alpine

      Hungary likes to claim to have a small portion of the Alps. We call it Alpokalja.

      I read this as what percentage of each country was the alps, and couldn’t understand how italy and france were more mountainous than switzerland… lol

      If Austria didn’t lose south Tyrol during WW1 to the Italians, we’d have over 30% of the Alps
