They already stated last year Ofcom can go pound some sand and they will pay no UK fines. Which UK is pretty much powerless to enforce.

I guess Ofcom can block it from being accessed in UK but id wager people who use 4chan know how to get around that.

    2. Good luck getting a single cent out of 4chan, they’ll ignore it and just keep on going with their lives, and probably find the name and address of who levied the fine out of spite.

    3. Do these people have a humilluation fetish or something? What is the point of issuing fines that you will not be able to collect? If you think the site is that harmful just block it and move on.

    4. I’d say there’s a better chance of 4chan getting money from them than the other way round. US courts would side with the surely if they brought some type of suit and have a better chance of actually getting the money.

Stupid dinosaurs making big decisions. 4chan can continue not paying their fines as before. The amount of fines Ofcom has issued vs fines paid is hilarious.

The UK is really overstepping, they are really going after VPNs now. It’s all about surveillance and control.

4chan doesn’t give a shit, and doesn’t give a fuck, because if they give a fuck, they might just give a…

    7. There needs to be some clarification here, when someone says: „Bob was fined“ that pretty much means Bob paid or went to prison.

When they write in the article: „4chan was fined“, that means this UK Office sent 4chan an email saying: „Grr, please pay now“ and 4chan ignored them with zero consequences.

We have the wonderfully made OSA to thank for this ladies and gentlemen. If parents were doing the bare minimum to look after their children. And we didn’t allow coffin dodgers who know nothing about tech to vote on these things, the UK wouldn’t be handing out frivolous fines.

The fine is meaningless. 4chan won’t pay and the UK can’t do anything.

    10. UK is like a small experimental window into the future of USofA. Whatever happens in UK, somehow interprets itself into US later down the road. US nearing the Brexit big brain moment about now.

They can ignore the fine. UK can go fuck themselves over with stupid laws

    12. The only thing that gets me is people holding up 4chan as some shining example of civil disobedience. When what 4chan really is is a cesspit of pedophilia, misogyny and performative edge culture.

Reminds me when Anonymous was all the rage and you’d get random 14 year olds posting videos with a $7 Guy Fawkes mask, pretending they’re the face of a secretive global movement.

    13. If I were 4chan I would just start spamming Ofcom emails with AI Deep Fake Porn from Labour party members and go out in a blaze of glory.

Was this via their lawyer who shreds Ofcoms letters and uses it as bedding for their hamster?

Ofcom is currently threatening a Canadian forum that exists to help people with depression. Ofcom claims that geoblocking blocking the UK is „insufficient“:

      > I’ve also gone back to Ofcom explicitly telling them the UK was now geoblocked (twice now) and I received a response that this was insufficient.

Ofcom thinks that their laws apply globally.
