      **From The Telegraph:**

China is not planning to invade Taiwan in 2027, according to an assessment from US intelligence agencies.

Instead, Beijing is seeking to gain control of the island without the use of force, the report has said.

The Annual Threat Assessment of the US Intelligence Community, which was published on Wednesday, said: “Chinese leaders do not currently plan to execute an invasion of Taiwan in 2027, nor do they have a fixed timeline for achieving unification.”

The report added that “despite the threat to use force”, China “prefers to achieve unification without the use of force”.

Donald Trump, who has delayed his trip to China that was set to take place at the end of this month, previously said that Xi Jinping had assured him that China would not invade Taiwan while he was in office.

However, China continues to step up its military aggression around Taiwan, carrying out daily grey-zone infringements – which are activities that fall short of the threshold of armed conflict – around the island as well as regular large-scale military exercises.

China has one of the world’s fastest-growing and largest militaries, with more troops, warships and fighter jets than the US. However, experts have said that the size of Beijing’s armed forces does not necessarily equal capability.

US is retiring ships and depleting its stockpiles against Iran so it is good that we have come to this conclusion.

Anyone remember when Putin assured Macron he wouldn’t invade Ukraine? I remember.

Maybe this is true, maybe it isn’t, but you’ll have to forgive me if I don’t trust Trump to be honest about this.

The infamous 2027 date was never “when” China was assessed likely to invade, it was the year Xi had set as a modernization-milestone for the PLA to be capable of doing so.

    7. Sounds exactly like something a nation invading Taiwan in 2027 would want you to think

Didn’t China just arrests its top generals? Seems like they re gonna need some time before planning an invasion.

    9. Chinese access to oil has been squeezed a little so probably not the best time to invade.

The best time would be about three to four weeks from now, when the US stockpiles are sufficiently depleted.

But as everyone knows very well, China would very much prefer a peaceful rejoining with Taiwain. I like to use the following analogy: to China, Taiwan is like a rebellious son who ran away from home. The parents are hurt by that, but they know that one day, he will come back to where he belongs.

The United States needs „an enemy“ as a justification for its insane military budget.
