An diesem Tag, dem 19. März 1989, kehren Frauen mit Anti-Besatzungsmärschen in Lympia und Achna zurück.

Die Frauenbewegung gegen die Besatzung „Women Return“ organisierte am 19. März 1989 zwei Märsche in Lympia und Achna.

In Lympia werden die Frauen an der Hügelkapelle des Heiligen Kreuzes festgehalten, während es ihnen in Achna gelingt, die Absperrung der Besatzungstruppen zu durchbrechen und in das zerstörte Dorf einzudringen.

    Lympia, not Lybia. Lybia is a country misspelled, Lympia is the village spelled the same way on the road signs and the hill chapel is called Stavros ton Lympion. It’s located in a very precarious military geographical spot also called “the tear” because if you look at the lines there on a map they form a teardrop shape. I served my conscription there in the occupied village of Louroujina nearby guarding the green line. The Turks there love doing “exercises” there every now and then to keep us on our toes.
