These are really lovely shots. I can’t say how much I loved St. John’s. I’ve been to cathedrals the world over – my favorites like Cambridge (technically a chapel), St. Chapele (same), Ely, many others. St. John was right in the top 5. That and the food, the inexpensive grocery store food, the beautiful countryside, I loved it.
That said, the towns are kinda shit. Read „A death in Malta“ and you can get insight into why the towns are so …. bland. They didn’t do much to preserve history. They had no permitting process and simply let developers build crappy buildings.
Still. There are gems all over the islands. I would love to go back.
One thing that was odd – we almost never met a Maltese person at a counter – at the hotel, the monolithic sites, anywhere…. all … people from away. No problem with that, but just interesting.
Celestial-gem on
So beautiful!
