  2. I appreciate this, but I think the colors are a little too close.

    I’m guessing the one from Latvia was Tal, but he was playing under the Soviet flag when he was champion. Latvia didn’t gain independence until 1991, so I’m guessing they retroactively gave Latvia credit for Tal.

    Surely the Soviet titles should be split among the member states the players came. Armenia, Latvia and Ukraine deserve titles. Whilst Kasparov could be Azerbaijani because he was born in Baku, he did choose Russian nationality.

  6. Norway would keep racking up those titles if Magnus „the GOAT“ Carlsen, after winning 5 times in a row, didn’t lose motivation to win again.
