Good, but it’s infuriating it takes backlash from celebrities to get them to realise this is the wrong approach, instead of considering the results of the public consultation they did!

  2. Good, do code and a social media accounts post next. Opt in only! Thieving scumbags.

    > while recognising AI models need to be trained on work such as writing, music and video.

Yeah see none of this AI bullshit needs to exist and we don’t need to feed our beloved cultural touchstones into them. Shut it down!

Meanwhile China is just gonna take whatever training data they want from Western media regardless then provide A.I. services for a fraction of the price.

I have mixed feelings on this since i think we are just delaying the inevitable. That doesn’t mean it is right of course from an immediate moral standpoint, but i think it might be right from a forward looking ethics point of view. other countries won’t have governments put in these safegurds. If this results in them overtaking us in the AI space then that is bad for the UK economy and security. Of course it won’t negatively effect the rich celebs moaning about it, it will effect the average person.

I would rather the arts learns to adapt to new technology than it just inhibits our national growth in that technology sector.

They are going to do it in some manner because the government is adamant the UK will be the AI capital and they need this kind of thing squared away for the genAI aspect of AI to bring in the cash.

    As depressing as that sounds.

  7. Why can’t any government do what is in the interests of the people as a whole.

I wonder if any of Starmer’s mates specialise in personal injury claims, because the fucker’s going to get whiplash from all these rapid U-turns.

  9. The amount of U-turns this government has made must be a record? Not saying I agree with their original take but on a broader note they have no spine to stick with anything.

Ah cool, so theft is okay if it’s in the name of training?

  11. I don’t think 90% of people that chat about AI have a f**king clue what it is, what it can and can’t do, why it is very obliviously here to stay etc. It’s embarrassing seeing so many people, on both sides, so confidently declare their feelings about something they are obviously clueless about.

I still don’t really understand why they think that it’s ok for corposcum to download a handbag, but when we did, it’s a very naughty thing indeed.

Why do these AI things even need to steal stuff? Can’t they just put them through school and university like normal people have to?
