      If this state were an independent country, it would approximately be the 5th most populated country on Earth.

      India would slip to 2nd place without it.

      Is river transportation widespread and are the main cities on the river banks?

      It’s most populous mainly because of these rivers and tributaries. One of the most fertile lands in the world.

      Seriously this place is nuts. Go look at it on google maps. You can sort of see the original agricultural layout of the landscape on satellite images but it’s slowly turning into the worlds largest mega city. It’s wall to wall overgrown villages.
