> the all-wheel-drive i3 50 xDrive, will go a manufacturer-estimated 440 miles on a full charge. (BMW says it replicated EPA testing procedures to come up with that.) That’s more than any new Tesla on sale today, including the 363-mile Tesla Model 3 Premium Rear-Wheel Drive and the larger, 410-mile Tesla Model S that will soon be discontinued.
If pricing is comparable, then the only reason anyone would buy a new Tesla over this BMW is because they really want to be seen in a Tesla, with all the implications that come with that…
The new CLA EV from Mercedes will likely be a bit cheaper. I wonder if it will lure buyers away from this or are they in different categories.

And decades ahead in quality and reliability.

All that tech, but you’re going to have to subscribe to a monthly fee in order to “auto-turn on your car, heated seats, and more!”

The energy efficiency comes from not signaling when turning or changing lanes.

But the tesla has turn signals

I’m not their target market, but modern BMWs are hideous looking. This one is even worse than the new X3.

I happen to think there is a certain person who buys BMW’s…..douche’s

Sounds like a great car to buy in 2 years when the price drops in half or more.

It will be interesting to see the price for the 400+ mile version. Might be able to buy two Tesla 3 long range versions for one i3.

I’m sure BMW will lock the range behind a subscription.

Wow that is ugly, they were so close, like the car looks good then you get to that front end/hood. Its like that horse picture.

Cool. Doesn’t have CarPlay.

I remember the original i3 being laughably bad in terms of looks and performance. Now they outperform Tesla. Tesla really slacking lol

The difference is Tesla works well and has the network. It’s a big advantage

Yeah no shit. It’s a newer car. You’d hope so

Have 2 Tesla model 3’s and hands down love them. The repair costs at the Tesla dealership have usually been far lower than what I’ve expected to pay. I’ve owned a BMW before and have always been shocked at how much the repairs had cost. I’m sure they’ll do the same expensive pricing structure for their EV’s so there’s that… and seriously if you do a lot of driving don’t get an EV until you can recharge super rapidly.

Longer range, better build quality, better customer support, Supercharger capability.

It also costs more than any Tesla now that the S and X are dead.
and also, ugly as fuck.
I like this, except it looks like touch-screen control for climate, etc., which makes it tough to use on a bumpy road. Range is outstanding!
Holy shit that is one hideous car
My eyes….ouch.
Did they make it hideous on purpose?
Honestly Tesla has stagnated so badly. They haven’t developed anything recently other than the cybertruck and that was pretty much a failure.
Looks like a Skoda
Don’t get me wrong, BMW is leagues better than Tesla, but they are also on my „never buy“ list for starting the subscription heated seats bullshit.
Now compare it to a BYD.
What options will be hidden behind a pay wall? Cruise control? Apple CarPlay?
And this vehicle weighs…nearly 5000 pounds.
Better watch the fuck out if you’re a pedestrian or on a bicycle/scooter.
Edit: it’s part of a [larger trend](https://www.iihs.org/research-areas/pedestrians-and-bicyclists) of injury and death happening to everyone outside of cars.
Absent physical buttons and subscription features
