      The article also says the share of Canada’s population that are temporary residents is now 6.4%, down from a peak of 7.6% in October 2024. The government’s target is to bring that down further to 5% by the end of 2027.

      No plans to address unafforability, or any of the other societial issues keeping this generation from having kids. So how do they expect the population to increase in a few years without immigration…?

      It went up so much over the past three years that a slight one year decline is still a very large increase over the decade.

      We should be taking advantage of the brain drain in the US as it’s the easiest integration and skill transfer.

      That said, while I think fake refugees and asylum seekers exploited the system themselves, I’d argue with TFW it was Canadian businesses that were the culprits.

      In fairness, it’s a reversal on ridiculous immigration policies the last few years. People who’s visas are expiring are expected to return home.

      Good. I’m going to guess that population will stay flat as non-permanent residents continue to get booted out over the next couple years.

      Carney is slowly fixing the mess.

      You idiots don’t realise this, but Canada has also reduced giving out visitor visas ( temporary resident visa) and are counting these as part of numbers reported.
      Your life will not become better, only the numbers will, they are soon going to start using the Iran war as an excuse for our QOL going down the drain.
      Mark my words.
