Russian agents and weapons experts usually leave when it comes to that. They left Egypt before Egypt attacked Israel in 1973. They left Syria after telling Assad they would send help.
They know when war is coming and leave. So if they stayed behind it may be to make this message to Israel to protect certain Iranian targets to repay Iran for helping them in the Ukraine war. By now they know it’s not safe. Only meat shields will be left there.
