Very stupid move.
Either their objective was to recover their comrades‘ bodies –> you walk unarmed, with a big red cross flag… or their objective was to actually advance –> there were just walking without taking cover, what did they expect would happen?

I thought i’d saw this before then I remembered they have a habit of doing the definition of insanity. Its not the same clip, it’s just I’ve seen them attack the same type of strong points like idiots more than once lol

This reminds me of a story I heard about Winter War: russia sent countless meat-waves against Finnish maxim machine guns that mowed them all down. Eventually the russians started getting close to Finnish lines because russian soldiers were able to take cover behind the piles of their dead comrades who had frozen solid during the day.

Many Finnish machine gunners suffered from extreme PTSD because they had to mercilessly kill ungodly amounts of people.

This might have been a good opportunity to hold off and watch to confirm that was what they were doing.

(I realize this is easy for my to say, sitting safely, in a country far away from these horrors. Still, there might be times when the Ukrainians will want/need to be allowed to recover their fallen.)
