I’ve been waiting for 2 years for my colonoscopy, they haven’t even called to schedule it yet that’s how far backed up there are in my city.

Look, im 100% not judging people, but there are 3 things I think are contributing here that weren’t as big 40 years ago:

    – Processed foods
    – Alcohol consumption
    – Butt stuff – self included, no judging

HPV can cause cancer, even in your butt. HPV can spread with fingers, genitals, tounges and toys.

You’ve *got* to be honest with your doc about risk factors, don’t be embarrassed. You also *have* to advocate for your own health. If a doctor isnt taking action, you need to switch docs.

And insurance needs to be pressured to lower the age of first colonosopy to like 30.

My 34 year old SIL died of this 🙁

Diagnosed at 29! Definitely spread awareness….

Processed foods, alcohol, not enough fibre, HPV, and long distance running seem to be the more recent causes here. Providers really need to step up referrals for colonoscopies, can be nearly impossible to get one young

I wonder if this is linked to childhood obesity. Childhood obesity rates really started ramping up in the 80s and 90s. Those children are now in their 30s and 40s. Before then becoming overweight or obese was something that happened as you got older. The first generation to be overweight their entire lives is now starting to age.
