I enjoy stargazing and astronomy in general. Its really disappointing to see starlink trails in long exposure photos. I’ve always wondered why they be made of a material that doesn’t reflect sunlight? Its polluting the night sky view.

Reminder that these Starlink satellites have to be replaced every ~5 years. Elon is raking in billions of subsidized funds from American taxpayers. Satellite internet isn’t even a new thing, he just monopolized it with the help of the US government. Meanwhile He controls the most powerful psychological operation platform on the internet called Twitter. Elon is compromised.

    4. Looking forward to nationalizing this when we gain a rational government again.

Redditors seeing a satellite and looking up if it’s the ISS, an airplane, or Starlink so they know whether to be mad or not.

    6. We’re just letting them do this. It will one of the biggest mistakes we make as a species

SpaceX is one of my favorite examples of a „solution“ that only exists because of late stage capatlism.

We ran power to houses when there wasn’t a profit motive, and it was quite expensive in rural areas. And we publicly fund these services, because we realized it was in our collective best interest. But we can’t do that now because apparently it’s „socialism“ if it doesn’t increase shareholder value.

And they only have a serviceable life of 5 years, but they aren’t being accounted for like they are an operations-critical asset, which makes Starlink’s books look better. And Starlink’s total addressable market is too small to keep the lights on long term.

Musk should be fined for space littering by the states. $1 trillion so he’ll need to fork over all his shares of Tesla, SpaceX, Twitter, and Boring to pay the fine.

    10. Acronyms, initialisms, abbreviations, contractions, and other phrases which expand to something larger, that I’ve seen in this thread:

    11. One of the first things Elon did in the WH besides erase all lawsuits against him was to get approval for ONE MILLION SpaceX satellites

So he’s only 10% at his goal

      90,000 more to come
