They’re by far the best option right now to govern Canada. The NDP are in shambles, and Pierre is highly unpopular and going around saying we need to become even further dependent economically on the US.
I cant see the CPC winning an election for awhile still, even with the Liberals being in power for over a decade, the CPC are that out of touch.
Laat time they said this, they lost seats. And the time before that. And that doesn’t cover all of the other times parties have forced or called elections on/for minority governments.
Canadians have demonstrated that they don’t like being ‚politicked‘ and based on historical trends holding an election right now will probably not go as well as the polling indicates.
They aren’t holding an election today. There isn’t any reason to. Might as well run this all the way to the end. It’s a minority government that isn’t going to go challenged.
No. Calling an election now would piss a lot of people off, myself included. If the liberals called an election today they would lose my vote and I’m sure I’m not the only one.
I’ve never understood the value of polls like his. We know the federal liberals are popular enough to win a majority if an election was held today, but it’s not being held today. It’s not being held for at least another year and a half.
I’d rather see polls on the popularity of individual policy choices made by the Carney government. I’d be willing to bet they wouldn’t look as popular if people were asked questions like „Do you agree with the decision to eliminate the minister of Labour position“ or „Do you agree with Carney government’s mandate to cut 15% from most social services“.
Most people probably aren’t even aware of these changes. Just asking „who would you vote for“ just tells us what the vibe is right now, and history tells us that that vibe can change immensely overnight.
